Ocho takes classy bow

Maybe the judges didn’t think his dancing was classy enough to make the Final Three, but Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco took a classy bow Tuesday night when he was eliminated from ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.

“USA Today’s web site quoted The Ocho as saying, “”This was awesome. I enjoyed the journey. I got some great criticism. I met some awesome people, including the beautiful Cheryl Burke. I’ve already won.”

Ochocinco’s relationship with Burke, his partner, has been as big a topic as his dancing even though he has suggested it is not romantic.

“We will remain friends,” The Ocho said, according to USA Today.  “I’ll be here as a professional next year.”

He’s expected at Paul Brown Stadium at some point in June and definitely for the June 15-17 mandatory minicamp.

About an hour after the show he tweeted pretty much the same sentiments.

“”Man this has been one of the best experiences ever, thanks to all who supported The Interesting One, this is just the beginning. #BEGREAT

I guess he knows many fans now will expect some sort of ‘super dance’ after touchdowns and of course Boomer will likely express his willingness for Marvin to cut him once he gets fined again which seems a bit silly.
The odd part is how so many fans seem to think he’s finished as the #1 receiver because of his age especially with the contract coming due next year. It makes me wonder if any of those fans realize his value to Mike brown and the Bengals when it comes to putting warm rear ends in those cold seats come winter time in Cincinnati. In my 50 years as a fan of Cincinnati teams I don’t recall any single player or either football or baseball who has brought more ticket buyers to the turnstiles than the Ocho. Just how often does that kind of player come along? Not often.

Add…I didn’t really follow DWTS, but I’m glad he left with a touch of class. I’m sure Steeler fans were expecting some spoiled brat type of behavior… Guess again! This ain’t your Pittsburgh team completely lacking in class.

TWO-BOOT: We can conclude Mike has some feel for that. Remember in ’08 when he seemed to be the only guy that didn’t want to trade Chad?

But 32-year-old receivers always make you nervous. It is natural in this league. Espcially when the Bengals lived through Cris Collinsworth suddenly showing up at 30 and being nowhere near where he was the year before and got cut in training camp.

I don’t see that happening to The Ocho this year. He had more in the tank in ’09 than Collinsworth had in ’88 from what they say, and the new receivers should energize him

Maybe it’s just me..32 just doesn’t seem all that old anymore. It could have something to do with me being born on 1959 though.. 😉
