In the bengals.com mock it has us taking Gilmore & Hill. I'd be really pleased with those picks. I really have begun to believe that if Courtney Upshaw is available at 17 we probably pick him. He's is the closest thing I've seen in a few years to try and get that elusive tweener DE-OLB that Lewis has coveted from day 1. I don't know what to think though. That's the good thing for the team...no need to smoke screen when they have these kind of options. Gilmore is a great fit for our system. But I think he could be long gone. Barron would be great too. Hill could very well be there at 21. Brockers would be nice too at 17. Lots of talk about teams in the top 10 or so trading down. But are there players beyond RG3 & Luck worth trading up for? Trades may be more common in the middle to late round. We definitely could be leapfrogged by somebody this year as we have so often in the past. But in the end we still pick 17 & 21 either way. And it appears virtually certain that we will get 2 players we covet. The only hard thing to it is we will most likely have a large amount of choice, especially at 17. It's not one of those years where it's going to be obvious. We will have to decide on a player and live with passing on the 3 players that picked before 21. If one of those 3 players are significantly better than the one you pick, you'll be reading about for the next 5 years in March & April.

@Hobson: Also, do you have any info about Jerry Jones, or know a source of any? A google search produced very little info. I know this list was first published in 1978, but I'm wondering when he first started doing it. I know he sold it privately to Bengals coaches and management before it was ever sold publicly. Also wondering how old he is. And how he ever went from a draft prospect obsessed pharmacist to sitting in Paul Brown's war room giving him advice. How did he ever convince them to buy his publication in the first place?

@Hobson: Just seen that this will be the last publication Jerry Jones is doing of The Drugstore List. Sad! Also said Jones has been suffering from lung cancer for 4 years and just can't do it anymore. Very sad! In the article I seen there was a possibility that someone in Cincinnati might be taking over the publication. Have you heard if it's going to continue? Also what got me to looking in the first place was I hadn't seen the yearly article when you do a phone interview with him. Will there be one this year? People like Jerry Jones and what he has done are virtually impossible in this day and age. His efforts remain a testament to the power of human instinct, intuition & individuality of thought over technology, sensation, and the mob mentality of trending.

@Hobson: DO you think there is any chance that we draft a K? I would say no because of franchising Nugent. But we have worked out a K, almost a month ago. Greg Zuerlin, a Division 2 K, who hit 21 of 22 last year, including 9 of 9 from 50+, and a 59 yarder to top it off. Kiper has him as the #1 K, most other sites have him at 7-9 or not even ranked. Kiper says level of comp has no bearing on Ks, most other websites downgrade because he's DIV 2. I agree with Kiper on this one. He's a great K, and I'm thinking with an extra 5th rounder...but we just gave Nugent the big money, but only for one year. And Nugent was drafted I believe in the 2nd round...top 10 for highest drafted Ks of all time last time I checked. But some believe this Zuerlin kid may be the next great NFL K. I know it sounds funny, but they don't come along often. At any one time there is maybe 3-5 truly great Ks in the game. But the question is...is there anyway to draft him with already franchising Nugent? Like practice squad for a year (he'd get stolen form us most likely)? Or just keeping both on the roster? Any scenario at all where you see us drafting him this year?

Can't wait for the draft...tired of reading mocks. In the latest one at draftec.com they have us taking Jayron Hosley-CB. I buy a CB in the 2nd round..but Hosley? These draft sites spend too much time doing a new mock every 3 days, and forget to research the kind of players each team targets. The Bengals aren't going to take a 5' 9.5" 175 CB. In the 2nd round or 22 round if one existed. I'm still thinking we can't go wrong here, there are going to be a few players we targeted available at 17.

Some really good games on the schedule. I reject the notion of easy and hard schedules at this point. They base it on last year's records and that tells you little about how good a team will be this year. Last year we were supposed to have one of the easiest schedules in the league. In reality, by seasons end we had a middle of the road schedule. Again this year it looks easy, but that 49ers & Broncos games looked easy last year. But it turned out we were playing playoff teams. Early we have a nice stretch with CLE, WAS, JAC, MIA & CLE, and we will only have 4 road games in the last 10 games. But after that stretch we have a home game, bye, and 2 more home games. But the home games are against PIT, NYG & DEN. And they are followed by a road trip to KC, a road trip to SD 2 weeks later and 2 weeks after that consecutive road games with PHI & PIT. What I see is a schedule that has us playing harder teams at home, and easier teams on the road. Making the easy games harder and the harder games easier. ON the other hand as a fan I think there are some really good games we are going to get to see.
