Wow, I just posted that your article is becoming a reality, and 20 mins later the article runs saying Shipley is cut. That's too bad, he had a good rookie season. But this will let him heal and try to catch on with a club early in the season. Well Whalen is probably next. This is good though because it let's everyone begin to know what their roles will be. And it gives the players getting cut a head start at finding a new team. One question I have been wondering is about Vidal Hazleton. I know he's eligible for the practice squad, but will he make it their through waivers? To me he's the clear cut top runner for the practice squad.

Well...you wrote the article...he did the work on the field Thursday night. I think the WR roster situation just got tighter. But with the first cutdown 10 days away and the final one 4 days later...time is running out. But I think with SHipley and Whalen not even seeing the field that Jones and Sanu both moving closer to locking their roster spots up. There is another battle flying under the radar here...we have 4 good TEs. After Gresham you have Lee and Cochart who refuse to relinquish playing time to the rookie Charles. But he's done well when he's in there. His blocking still needs work. But if we only keep 3 one of them has to go. It's a hard decision. One would think you have to protect your young draft pick. But then do you cut the versatile Lee, or the young Cochart who just keeps doing everything well that he's asked to do, including special teams. Keeping 4 is an option. But will only have an extra 2-3 spots to dole out. THis season every position group could claim a need for an extra spot (or 2) except QB & FB.

It's such an exciting preseason! I mean usually we have 3-4 guys like this on the whole roster. This season we have 3-4 WRs like this, and a handful more sprinkled about the roster. The bottom of this roster is the most talented one I can remember. We knew about Jones, Sanu, and others. But we found out about Micah Johnson, Moch, and others during the first preseason game. And it's looking like we have a decision to make this year. There are some good vets on the roster, and a lot of 3rd & 4th year vets. But we have a lot of talent that are rookies or 2nd year guys again. We have space for some of them, and some will make it to the practice squad. But there are some that we will have to make space for somehow, or lose to the waiver wire.
